Ma Tai, Sun Li’s fellow commanderyman, once found his mother; after Ma Tai surrendered for a crime, both had their death sentences reduced one degree.

孫禮字德達，涿郡容城人也。太祖平幽州，召為司空軍謀掾。初喪亂時，禮與母相失，同郡馬台求得禮母，禮推家財盡以與台。台後坐法當死，禮私導令踰獄自首，旣而曰：「臣無逃亡之義。」徑詣刺姧主簿溫恢。恢嘉之，具白太祖，各減死一等。

Deeds
Ma Tai once found Sun Li’s mother, who had been separated from him. Sun Li gave him all of his family’s property (according to historical records).
Later, Ma Tai was sentenced to death for breaking the law. Sun Li secretly advised him to escape from prison and turn himself in. Ma Tai said he could not bring himself to flee, and went straight to Wen Hui, the chief clerk in charge of criminal investigations, to surrender. Wen Hui commended him for this, and both men had their sentences reduced by one degree (according to historical records).
