Achievements
- In the 22nd year of Jian’an, Cao Mao was enfeoffed as the Marquis of Wansui Ting; the following year, his fief was changed to Pingyu. In the third year of Huangchu, he was promoted in rank and transferred to the title Duke of Chengshi; in the seventh year of Huangchu, he was transferred to Zhongqiu. (According to historical records)
- Cao Mao had a very stubborn temperament and was not favored by Cao Cao when he was young. During Emperor Wen’s reign, he was the only prince not enfeoffed as a king. In the first year of Taihe, he was transferred to the title Duke of Liaocheng, and was made a king that same year. (According to historical records)
- In the sixth year of Taihe, his title was changed to Prince of Quyang. In the third year of Zhengshi, when the Prince Ling of Dongping died, Cao Mao claimed to be suffering from a sore throat and refused to mourn, carrying on his daily routine as usual. The responsible officials memorialized requesting that his fief be reduced, and an edict cut one county and five hundred households from it. In the fifth year of Zhengshi, he was transferred to Leling, had the number of households previously cut restored, and received an additional seven hundred households. During the Jiaping, Zhengyuan, and Jingyuan eras, his holdings were repeatedly increased, totaling five thousand households. (According to historical records)
