Li Ren was a Gentleman Attendant of Wu, mentioned in relevant accounts in Records of the Three Kingdoms, vol. 48; he does not appear in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Deeds

After Wu fell, Yu Jun, a Gentleman Attendant of Jin, and others asked Li Ren whether Sun Hao, ruler of Wu, had ever flayed people’s faces or cut off their feet. Li Ren said that the informants had exaggerated, and replied that the ruler administered punishments and criminals were punished according to the law. (Recorded in the histories)

Yu Jun and the others then asked whether Sun Hao had gouged out people’s eyes. Li Ren denied this, citing ritual propriety to explain that a subject who looked at the ruler in a manner contrary to ritual would be regarded as arrogant and disloyal. Yu Jun and the others accepted Li Ren’s answer.
