Liu Pu was the father of Liu Ye, a native of Chengde in Huainan, and lived in the late Han dynasty. He does not appear in Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
Deeds
When Liu Ye was seven, his mother fell gravely ill and urged the brothers to be wary of Liu Pu’s attendant. She described the attendant as ingratiating and malicious, and feared that after her death he would cause trouble in the household (according to historical records).
When Liu Ye was thirteen, he decided he could act in accordance with his mother’s final instructions. He entered the room and killed the attendant, then went straight out to pay respects at his mother’s grave. On learning what had happened, Liu Pu sent people to pursue him. Liu Ye returned and apologized, but Liu Pu ultimately did not punish him.
