當此之時，輅之鄰裡，外戶不閉，無相偷竊者。清河太守華表，召輅為文學掾。安平趙孔曜薦輅於冀州刺史裴徽曰：「輅雅性寬大，與世無忌，仰觀天文則同妙甘公、石申，俯覽周易則齊思季主。今明使君方垂神幽藪，留精九皋，輅宜蒙陰和之應，得及羽儀之時。」徽於是辟為文學從事，引與相見，大善友之。徙部鉅鹿，遷治中別駕。
