Deeds

When He Qi campaigned against Hanxing, he worried that his army would advance too deep into enemy territory and lack sufficient support. He therefore ordered Ding Fan to remain behind and guard Yuhan. Ding Fan, whose city was adjacent to He Qi’s, considered it shameful to be ranked among the troops and refused the order to stay behind. He Qi then executed Ding Fan to establish military authority. (As recorded in historical sources.)
