Lu Xun believed that Yang Zhu would ultimately meet his downfall and urged Yang Mu to separate his clan from Yang Zhu’s. (Recorded in the historical sources)
Yang Zhu secretly attached himself to Sun Ba and plotted to harm the heir apparent, Sun He. Yang Mu repeatedly admonished Yang Zhu and thus avoided the death penalty, but was still exiled to Nanzhou. (Recorded in the historical sources)
