Deeds
Sun Hao had Lou Xuan and his son Ju transferred to Jiaozhi and placed in Zhang Yi’s charge, secretly ordering him to kill Lou Xuan. After Ju arrived in Jiaozhi, he died of illness. Lou Xuan followed Zhang Yi on a campaign against bandits, walking with a knife in hand. Whenever he saw Zhang Yi, he bowed to him, and Zhang Yi could not bring himself to kill him (according to the historical record).
Zhang Yi died suddenly. While preparing his funeral, Lou Xuan found a secret edict among his belongings and, after returning, killed himself. The Jiangbiao Zhuan, cited by Pei Songzhi, gives another account: Zhang Yi later sent Lou Xuan poisoned wine, and Lou Xuan, learning of this, took medicine and died (according to the historical record).
